Hi, my name is Meghan Clisham. I am a 5th grade teacher. This is my second year in 5th grade and my third year in the building. I am a New Holland Elementary and Garden Spot Alum. I received my Bachelor’s Degree from Kutztown University in Elementary and Special Education. I am currently a graduate student at Kutztown pursuing my Master’s in Elementary Education. I still live here in New Holland and enjoy seeing the students around especially when they come to the pool in the summer where I work or at Grocery Outlet Bargain Market which is owned by my parents. I truly enjoy working where I used to go to school and have some of the best students and co-workers!
I am a teacher with 17 years of experience. I have had the chance to teach children from 2nd grade through 6th grade. I also coached wrestling for 10 years at Garden Spot, so I also had a chance to work with kids from 2nd all the way to 12th graders. My favorite subjects to teach would be science and social studies. Reading and math are excellent too because they are both necessary to learn more about science and social studies. This summer I started learning to play the banjo, taught two classes at the Science Factory, and traveled through New England with my family.
My name is Jessica Lapp and I have been teaching in ELANCO for 14 years. This is my second year in fifth grade and I am so excited! When I am not teaching I enjoy spending time with my family. I have 2 daughter, Abigail age 7 and Emma 19 months. We love to go hiking and spend time outside. In my free time I love to read and watch the New York Giants win.
Personal Life: I live with my husband Bill and my children Lindsay (27) and Corey (21) in East Earl Township. My family and I are very close, and enjoy doing lots of activities together. My daughter and her husband Chris are both teachers at Penn Manor High School. We enjoy our summers together, and Lindsay was a big help getting our classroom ready for this school year. Corey will be heading off to Lycoming College again this Fall, beginning his Junior year. He is majoring in Criminal Justice. His goal will be to graduate, and attend the PA State Police Academy, and eventually become a State Police trooper. Unfortunately due to injury to his knee that required reconstructive surgery, he was unable to return to the Lycoming football squad as a running back. He is a member of the Lycoming Golf team, and active with other activities on campus. We have 1 dog that we adopted from the Berks Animal Rescue League. His name is Zeus, and he is a Lab/Pit Bull Mix. Don’t let the breed fool you…he is a big baby, and very loving. I have one brother Rodger, and he and his family live in New Holland. My Mom and Dad are amazing. Check out the archived pictures of them four wheeling, and horseback riding with us on our 2008 vacation to the Grand Canyon. There is also an update (PowerPoint slideshow) that includes Summer 2010 and 2011. AND a trip to Arizona and Nevada during the Summer of 2012. My family and I enjoy lots of outdoor activities, sports, (Go Phillies and Eagles!) traveling, history, and spending time with each other.
Professional Life: This is my 27th year of teaching in the ELANCO School District. I began my career as a Life Skills Teacher, and a Learning Support Teacher at Caernarvon Elementary in 1988 after graduating from Millersville University. In 1992 my Learning Support classroom and I moved to Brecknock Elementary. For the next 8 years I served as Learning Support teacher here at Brecknock. The skills that I honed those years, and the experiences that I had, greatly influenced the teaching style and philosophies that I have today. For the past 12 years, I have enjoyed teaching 5th and 6th grade respectively. This is my first year teaching at New Holland Elementary, and I am looking forward to working with students and parents of this community.
