I graduated from Lebanon Valley College with a bachelor’s degree in elementary and special education. I attended Wilkes University where I received my master’s degree in classroom technology. This is my 9th year of teaching and my 3rd year at New Holland. I’ve worked as a learning support teacher, Title I support teacher, and regular education teacher during this time spanning the grades of K – 5. Every experience has taught me something new, and I greatly enjoy being able to share that with my current students and their families. My goal is to create a safe environment where kids want to learn and develop a love for learning.
I really enjoy being active, especially running. I’ve run a marathon with my father and hope to soon run my first half marathon. I enjoy spreading my love of running and empowering young ladies by coaching Girls on the Run at New Holland. I love taking my dog for walks (or rather him dragging me). His name is Te’o, and he is a lab-beagle mix whose energy never stops. My husband and I are excited to be welcoming our first child in the spring. We can’t wait for our next adventure!
Hi ! I am Karen Coldren and I am currently a title one teacher working with students in second grade and kindergarten. This is my tenth year at New Holland Elementary. I am currently working on my Master’s degree. I spent a year teaching kindergarten through third grade in Twin Hills, Alaska with my Golden Retriever, Piper, before coming to Eastern Lancaster County School District. I have been at New Holland Elementary for three years. I taught first grade my first year and was then moved to second grade. I am originally from Lansdale, PA where I lived with my mom, dad, younger sister Maddy, and our dogs and cat. In my free time I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, reading, walking Piper, and spending time outside.
My name is Laura Mitchley. I have been a teacher at NHES for 12 years. Every year, I have been blessed with a class full of amazing students whom I adore. I have my bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Bloomsburg University and my master’s degree from Wilkes University. When I’m not at school, I like spending time with my two sons, Max and Finn, and my husband who is also a teacher. I love reading, baking and cheering on my boys at their baseball games. But my favorite thing to do is spend sunny days with a book on our boat on Lake Wallenpaupack.

This is my third year here at New Holland Elementary School. Here at New Holland I have been a second grade teacher, a fourth grade teacher and now I am back in second grade. Before coming to New Holland I taught third, fifth, and sixth. Last school year was a very exciting year for me. I got married in February and I changed from Miss Lasak to Mrs. Stoltzfus! I am one of three girls in my family. I have an older sister Sarah who also got married in 2016 and a younger sister Catherine. In my free time I love to spend time with my family and friends. I also enjoy a lot of the arts. I love the theater, pottery, arts and crafts, and learning how to do something new.
I am currently also a graduate student at Kutztown University. I am working towards a Masters in Instructional Technology- with a concentration in the digital classroom. New Holland is a wonderful school and I love being able to get to know all of our wonderful students and staff.
