Welcome Miss Humphrey!

HumphreyMy name is Megan Humphrey and have been so fortunate to join the first grade team here at New Holland Elementary. I grew up outside of Philadelphia in Lansdale. After graduating high school in the North Penn School District, I attended Kutztown University. I graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education and am certified to teach Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, and Special Education.

After graduating from Kutztown I taught 2 ½ to 3 year olds at The Malvern School in King of Prussia. I then went back to the North Penn School District as a substitute teacher. While I was substitute teacher I decided to take a chance and apply to some school districts in Alaska. I was hired by the Southwest Region School District to teach kindergarten through third grade and special education in the rural village of Twin Hills. I spent the 2013-2014 school year teaching in Twin Hills and loving every minute of it! I learned about lot about the Yupik culture and what it is like to live in the bush. I returned to Pennsylvania to be closer to my family but still have a very close relationship with my friends from Alaska.

I have a two year old Golden Retriever named Piper who went to Alaska with me. In my free time I like to walk Piper, take her swimming, and work on her training to one day become a certified therapy dog. I also enjoy reading, spending time with family and friends, and spending time outdoors. I have a younger sister who attends Lebanon Valley College and is studying to be a physical therapist.

I am loving every minute teaching at New Holland Elementary. The staff, parents, and students have all been so welcoming and made me feel right at home. I am looking forward to a long and rewarding career here.
